Select the Right Comfort Level for You

Getting a good night’s rest is essential for good health and general well-being. Poor sleep can negatively affect your physical condition, productivity, and mood. Tossing, turning and restlessness leaves you groggy, irritable and exhausted the next day. The problem could be your mattress comfort level.

Sleeping soundly requires being comfortable, and choosing the right mattress among the many options available is the key to achieving that level of comfort. Each of Sit ‘n Sleep’s 37 locations throughout the Southland has trained Sleep Consultants who are available seven days per week to help determine the mattress comfort level that’s right for your particular body type and size. Other factors used in deciding which mattress is best for you includes your weight, preferred sleeping position and history of allergies if any.

Mattress Comfort Scale

Our trained Sleep Consultants use a 10-point Mattress Comfort Scale to evaluate the degree of firmness that’s best for each individual customer. The Comfort Rating Scale ranges from #1 for extra firm mattresses to #10 for extremely soft mattresses. Most people tend to choose mattresses in the middle range of #4 to #7 on the Comfort Scale. Only a few people prefer the extremes of either a #1 extra firm or a #10 extremely soft mattress. Sit ‘n Sleep’s knowledgeable Sleep Consultants will help determine the size, firmness, and style of mattress that will give you the best night’s sleep.

The construction of the mattress you sleep on can also affect your sleep comfort. Among the various types to choose from are innerspring mattresses, memory foam mattresses, and hybrid mattresses, which combine the best features of innerspring and memory foam. Here again, Sit ‘n Sleep’s Sleep Consultants will help you select the mattress best suited to your individual needs using our mattress comfort guide.

Pillows also play an important role in sleep comfort, since they provide approximately 20 percent of the support your body needs for sound sleep. Sleeping on the wrong pillow can result in neck or back pain since pillows affect how your neck aligns with your spine. Pillows come in a wide variety of sizes, materials and textures. Thick or thin, flat or contoured, down or memory foam – our Sleep Consultants will recommend a pillow that works best your new mattress.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. Nothing, however, lasts forever. An old, worn mattress will affect your comfort and sleep quality. If you’ve had your current mattress for more than six or seven years, it’s definitely time to visit a Sit ‘n Sleep mattress store and have one of our knowledgeable Sleep Consultants analyze your comfort levels for mattresses and recommend a replacement that will have you sleeping soundly once again.
