Q&A: How to Select a Mattress with Store Manager, Marty Meredith
Ever wonder HOW on earth to select a mattress? Well, Agoura Hills Sit ‘n Sleep Store Manager, Marty Meredith is here to help answer some frequently asked question so you’ll be a savvier shopper!
1. What qualities should I look for when selecting a mattress?
Comfort, support, temperature neutrality and lack of motion are 4 basic tenets of sleep and studies show these are the items consumers are most concerned with.
2. Should customers have a checklist when shopping for a mattress?
Perhaps a list of what is most important to them about their purchase and what their expectations are for their new mattress.
Some consumers are price conscious and some are not. The best advice is to keep an open mind and trust a trained professional at a great company, like SitnSleep to guide you through the process.
3. Do you recommend customers take a nap on the mattress before purchasing it?
While that could be ideal it is impractical, but I recommend really taking time to relax and lie on each mattress for 3-5 minutes with a pillow that is comfortable for them. They should try each bed with their favorite pillow in tow. They should not try too many mattress either because it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
4. What if I don’t like the mattress I picked?
SitnSleep offers a 60 night sleep trial to ensure complete customer satisfaction. What is so special about SitnSleep is the quality and training and tenure of our sleep consultants and the time we take to ask the right questions and fit the customer for a mattress that they are going to love. SitnSleep has the latest cutting edge technology to assist our customers toward their goal of a great night’s sleep.
5. What’s your favorite part about the job?
Exceeding customer’s expectations every step of the way is extremely rewarding. Making great connections and dramatically improving people’s lives is a great feeling. Here’s a great example: A lady came to me a year ago and told me she has had 20 back surgeries (no exaggeration) and there is nothing more that doctors could do for her. She thought perhaps a new mattress would improve her situation. I recommended and adjustable bed and had her get in and try it. We talked about various things for about 45 minutes and suddenly I noticed there were tears rolling down her cheeks. I asked her what was wrong and she said, “nothing, this is the first time in 15 years I have been pain free and no doctor ever suggested an adjustable bed.”
She purchased and loves her new bed. She called me after the fact to let me know she was feeling so much better because her adjustable bed gave her proper support. I felt pretty good about myself when I put my head on my own pillow that night.
