Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Close to being a great pillow This could be my dream pillow if it was slightly softer. The high setting is exactly the right height for sleeping on my side and keeping my head elevated so that my shoulder does not dig down in to my awesomely firm Tempurpeic grand bed mattress. The low setting was too high for sleeping on my back so I carved out about an inch and now it is also perfect but a little jagged from the carving. The spacing is also perfect for tossing and turning back and forth between the high and low parts of the pillow. Because everyone is different, what really needs to be done with these pillows is to have a way to adjust firmness and height of each section and then everone would have one! I think this would be possible by using different characteristic memory foam in layers that could be swapped in position or removed entirely. Prior to buying this pillow, I used 2 pillows and always woke up with neck pain because my head was propped up too high causing the discs in my upper back to compress. Now it is much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Side to Back Sleepers I made the splurge and began using Termpurpedic back pillows 7 years ago, because I value a good night's rest. However, I found the contours for the back pillows to be too high when I tried to sleep on my side. The contours for the side-back pillow are a perfect hybrid - there's a slightly lower middle section for you to nestle your head when you sleep on your side. There was only 1 review for this pillow when I purchased, so I knew I was taking a risk given their no returns policy. It's well worth it. I've slept soundly since it arrived 3 days ago!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect pillow I don't like soft pillows as I always end up with a neck pain when using them. I love the firmness of the sides, they give my neck the right amount of support without being painful. The center is perfect for the few minutes/hours I sleep on my back during the night. I don't feel like other reviewers the sides are too hard but if you are looking for a really soft pillow, don't buy it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sides are too hard The center of this pillow, for sleeping on your back, is really comfortable. However, when you try to sleep on the edges on your side, it is VERY hard. I have the regular side sleeper as well, and I was told by the salesperson that the sides of the "side-back-side" pillow would feel the same as the middle of the side-sleeper. Boy were they wrong, the sides are like a rock. Since I only spend about 30% of the night on my back, this pillow is completely unusable for me. What a waste of money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not live up to expectation So I really wanted to love this pillow. I have myofascial pain syndrome and for the last six months I've been working on through physical therapy and lifestyle choices to lessen the frequency and severity of my flare ups. I started the process by training myself to be a side sleeper after being a life long stomach sleeper. To help with this process, I ordered a cheap but well reviewed contoured pillow. I liked it in general, but I didn't like that when I lay on my back it put uncomfortable pressure on the back of my neck where I have some disc degeneration. About two months ago I got a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Elite mattress and I'm in love. While searching through the Tempur-Pedic site for reviews of the mattress, I discovered the Side to Back pillow. At last! A pillow that would give me the contoured edges I need for sleeping on my side but still have a nice cut out so I could comfortable laying on back. I felt a little conflicted about purchasing it after reading the small amount of mixed reviews and knowing the no return policy, but I was so happy with my bed I thought it was worth the gamble. As most of the negative reviews complained it was too firm, and since I knew from extensive reading that Tempur-Pedics they needed time to break in, I spent the first week I had the pillow doing that. I didn't sleep on the pillow but walked on it, sat on it, and did all the tricks I had read about to try to open up the foam cells. I planned my first night's sleep on it, the night before a physical therapy session so if it messed me, I'd get help right away. I also took a muscle relaxer/sedative my doctor prescribed to preventive any spasms. Immediately once I put my head on the pillow I noticed the serious firmness, and how uncomfortably high it felt. Unlike most of the other contoured Temper-Pedic pillows, there was no choice in size, it only came in Queen. This size has proved to big for me to comfortably relax. I'm 5'8 and not a small person, but sleeping with the pillow in the appropriate way is very uncomfortable. Still, I know tempur-pedics are an acquired taste, so I gave it a week of sleeping on it to see. After a couple of nights of almost giving up, I tried flipping it over the lower side. Aha! I thought, this is shorter and softer, perfect, all my problems solved forever. Unfortunately after two nights this was also very uncomfortable. I've given the pillow a month and a half to see if I would get accustomed to it, but I've finally given up on gone back to my cheap online purchase, which now feels like a supportive marshmallow in comparison to the rock hard tempur pedic. The tempur pedic pillow was so hard that I would wake up in the middle of the night because my ears hurt from laying on the side sleeper part. Also, the pillow was so long, that I would often find when I'd turn over in my sleep I'd wake up uncomfortable because my neck would be on the less supportive back sleeping part, because I would have to not just roll over but then skooch over to get to the side sleeper part. Bottom line, this pillow is a great idea, but just doesn't live up to expectation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't judge this pillow by its great appearance! This is the third Tempur-pedic pillow that I have purchased over the years due to a neck injury. Prior pillows have been great and worth the investment. This one, however, is extremely hard to sleep on and the rectangle shape is difficult to adjust or move in bed for positioning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pillow is wonderful. Great neck support! I have many back and neck issues that are long standing and have experimented with many types of pillows. This is the best one I have ever found and my neck and back are feeling better than they have for a long time.
