Sit 'n Sleep Partners with Habitat for Humanity to Help Area Families

2013 was a great year for 80 families throughout the Los Angeles area. Not only will they receive new homes from Habitat for Humanity but new mattresses, frames and box springs courtesy of Sit 'n Sleep. According to the President of California's number one mattress retailer, Nelson Bercier, it's a natural partnership. "They build homes and we provide home furnishings. It's also a perfect fit because Habitat for Humanity is right in our own backyard. We're a very hands-on company so this partnership allows us to meet the families and pound some nails."

Habitat for Humanity agrees whole-heartedly. "We are so grateful and touched by this generous donation of beds to our partner families, many of whom move into their new Habitat home with minimal furnishings," said Erin Rank, President/CEO of HFH GLA.

Sit 'n Sleep will be "adopting" every home built by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles in 2013 because Sit 'n Sleep's CEO Larry Miller believes, "Everyone deserves a good night's sleep and Sit 'n Sleep is committed to ensuring that more than 80 Los Angeles families will have a roof over their heads and mattresses to sleep on." According to Bercier, Sit 'n Sleep has committed over $150,000 because, "Sleep is important for both mental and physical health. If we can bring some additional happiness to their homes it would be a big help."

Recently, Sit 'n Sleep's CEO, Larry Miller, and President, Nelson Bercier, got to meet one of their "adopted" families at their warehouse in Gardena. The Martinez family, after years of living in a cramped 10'x12'bedroom in Lynwood, received a home from habitat for Humanity in 2009 and since have welcomed a fourth child, Allen in 2010.
