You know our owner, Larry Miller, from our TV and radio commercials, but the real stars at Sit 'n Sleep are our Sleep Consultants. At Sit 'n Sleep, we've been blessed by having the most loyal employees in the business. This summer, the public is being introduced to many of these wonderful people in our television commercials. So, in this month's newsletter, it's our pleasure to introduce you to one of the stars of these ads, Regional Sales Manager, Patrick Quinlan.


SNS News: How many years have you been working for Sit 'n Sleep?

Patrick: 17 years and for the last 10 I've been the Regional Sales Manager.

 

SNS: What does your position entail?

Patrick: Basically, it's to create and maintain a strong sales force and have consistency throughout the chain.


SNS: What's the most common question you're asked as a Sit 'n Sleep employee?

Patrick: "What kind of bed do you sleep on" and "With so many choices, how do I pick a mattress?"

 

SNS: So, what kind of mattress is in your bedroom?

Patrick: Kingsdown 800 Green

 

SNS: What's the most memorable experience you've had with customer?

Patrick: The one I remember most is after being off the sales floor for about five years, I walked into the Culver City store and a customer who had just started talking to a salesperson turned towards me, smiled and pulled out of his pocket my business card I gave him 10 years earlier when I sold him a mattress. Long story short, I asked him what made him keep my card that long, let alone remember me 10 years later? He simply said that it was because of the service and care he received from me and Sit 'n Sleep.

 

SNS: That's a great story! How have the stores changed over the years?

Patrick: The overall look has changed a lot. Sit 'n Sleep, in terms of look, has gone from looking like every other mattress store to looking like no other mattress store. We have moved away from the "Borax discount look" to a modern lifestyle and technology design.

 

SNS: How have mattresses changed since you started in the business?

Patrick: The biggest change over the last 10 years is mattresses going one sided versus two sided. In recent years, the biggest change is the focus on sleep health and the use of more space-age materials, like memory foam, latex and gel. If you only get four hours of sleep a night, today's mattress designs give you the best four hours of sleep you can get.

 

SNS: Have you seen a change in most customers' understanding of the health benefits of a good night sleep?

Patrick: Yes, I have. Today's customer has a heightened understanding not only of the health benefits of a good night's sleep but amazingly enough a pretty good understanding of the construction and inner-workings of a mattress. The internet.you gotta love it!

 

SNS: What is your favorite Sit 'n Sleep ad?

Patrick: The "Dust Mites" and "Replace Every 8" ads. When business was at its worst those two ads really connected with our customers and turned our business around.
